Voyant AR facilitated an Extended Reality (XR) Hackathon in August 2021. As Lead Producer we coordinated the Hackathon including open call to local developers, sourcing relevant software/hardware, pre-hackathon briefing, running the weekend event, exhibition installation at PICA and Artist Studio Talk during the XR:WA Festival.

“Through this program, artists had hands-on opportunities to learn about XR and experience the exciting possibilities of the medium. Three of these artists were invited to develop a project at PICA with the assistance of developers and technical artists, with the final artworks presented at PICA as part of XR:WA Festival. The three artists had no previous experience with XR artmaking, and the projects they developed led to significant outcomes for their artistic careers. Through the vital skills development offered by this project, artists could expand their practice into a new area and access valuable opportunities in this growing sector, equipped with new skills, knowledge and networks. In turn, the artworks presented at PICA gave audiences a taste of the exciting and immersive world of XR.” - PICA Annual Report 2021.
